Holiday in the beautiful mountainous Auvergne
We are situated in the mountainous Puy De Dome province of the Auvergne region (highest mountain: Puy de Sancy 6,184 ft).30 minutes South of Clermont Ferrand and 4 hours from either Paris, Bordeaux, Geneva or the Spanish border. Easily accessible from A75 motorway or from a nearby railway station.
The house,which sleeps 8, is in a quiet suburb overlooking the River Allier.
Rental for a week ranges from £500 - £750, this includes all bedding and towels, electricity and heating.
There are a number of excellent restaurants in the area, which is renowned for the wide variety of local cheeses, notably St. Nectare, Bleu d'Auvergne and Le Gaperon (in the shape of a Puy and very garlicky), to mention just a few.
The region is ideal for walking and mountain biking and boasts an exceptional variety of lakes, waterfalls and the river Allier, all of which offer excellent fishing, windsurfing, and other water sports including white-water rafting. There are riding stables in one of the nearby villages.
In winter there is both cross-country and downhill skiing as well as snowboarding within about 45 minutes drive.
The nearest large town is Brioude (brioude.com)about 15 minutes drive away; a picturesque medieval settlement built up around the beautiful St Julien's Basilica.
